- Abstract
- Introduction: Patients with chronic back pain is one of the most frequent in our clinic. Therefore the aim of our study is to evaluate the therapeutic response in osteopathic patients with chronic low back pain and which one is most effective, determining the effects of this treatment on quality of life and pain VAS. Materials and methods: an invitation was made for patients with lumbar pain between 18 to 24 years old, with availability to complete the full treatment. There was a clinical evaluation for each of the patients conducted to identify those with chronic mechanical low back pain. Each patient was treated with 10 sessions of osteopathy, BLT or TBA treatment, according assignment. Questionnaires of Roland Morris and VAS were administered before and after treatment. Results: seventeen patients who had inclusion criteria, completed the ten sessions of treatment and filled out the questionnaires provided. The results of Roland Morris and VAS questionnaire showed improvement after treatment. Conclusion: Osteopathic medicine is a useful alternative for the treatment of chronic mechanical low back pain, showing impact on patients’ quality of life and their pain. Although we can not say that the data is strongly significant because the sample size was not large enough and because the two are comparable treatments of osteopathic and both have good performance respecting the literature. The comparison with a controlled group always shows more scientific evidence

- Introducción: El paciente con dolor lumbar crónico es uno de los pacientes más frecuentados en nuestra consulta. Por lo tanto el objetivo de nuestro estudio es evaluar la respuesta terapéutica osteopatica con pacientes de dolor lumbar crónico y cuál de ellos es más eficaz, determinando los efectos de este tratamiento en su calidad de vida y escala de dolor EVA.Materiales y métodos: se hizo una convocatoria dirigida a personas mayores de 18Anos a 24 años de edad, con dolor lumbar, con disponibilidad para cumplir con la totalidad del tratamiento. Se realizo una evaluación clínica de cada paciente para identificar aquellos con dolor lumbar mecánico crónico. Cada paciente fue manejado con 10 sesiones de osteopatía, tratamiento de TBA o BLT, según asignación. Se les aplicó los cuestionarios Roland Morris y escala de EVA antes y después del tratamiento.Resultados: Diecisietes pacientes que tuvieron los criterios de inclusión, completaron las diez sesiones de tratamiento y diligenciaron los cuestionarios. Los resultados del cuestionario Roland Morris y de la escala EVA mostraron mejoría después del tratamiento.Conclusión: la medicina osteopatica es una alternativa útil para el tratamiento del dolor lumbar mecánico crónico, mostrando impacto en la calidad de vida de los pacientes y en su dolor. Aunque no podemos decir que los datos sean significativos debido a un tamaño de muestra no lo suficientemente amplia y debido que los dos tratamientos a comparar son osteopaticos y de buena evolución según la literatura. La comparativa frente a un grupo control siempre muestra más evidencia científica
