- INTRODUCTION: The objective of this project was to test the effectiveness of osteopathic treatment in cranial venous sinuses drainage in a subject diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) who has not been surgically intervened through venous angioplasty.METHODOLOGY: The research was done through the database ‘Pubmed’, ‘BioMed Central’ and ‘The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association’. The study evaluated the degree of fatigue and headache through his daily clinical records evolution before, during and after treatment for 4 months. The patient rated the intensity of fatigue and headache in a subjective way on a scale from zero (no fatigue or headache) to ten (tiredness or maximum to unbearable headache). The treatment consisted of the osteopathic venous cranial drain technique once a week over a period of two months.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Prior to the treatment, in terms of fatigue, the rating ‘4’ was the most common value (40%). After the treatment, the most frequently used rating was ‘3’ by 93.54%. As for headache, the most used rating before the treatment was ‘1’ (56.66%). And after the treatment, 96.77% of times the result was ‘0’.CONCLUSIONS: The osteopathic venous sinus drainage technique in a patient diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and CCSVI has proven effective in reducing fatigue and headache. The study has some limitations as the evaluation and ratings of the records have been subjective. Moreover, the treatment has been tested only in one single patient; therefore, the study should be extended to a larger population in order to obtain more reliable results.

- INTRODUCCIÓN: El objetivo de este proyecto era comprobar la efectividad del tratamiento osteopático de drenaje de los senos venosos craneales, en una persona diagnosticada de esclerosis múltiple (EM) e insuficiencia venosa cerebroespinal (CCSVI) no intervenida quirúrgicamente mediante angioplastia venosa.METODOLOGÍA: La búsqueda bibliográfica se hizo a través de las bases de datos “Pubmed”, “Biomed Central” y “The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association”. Se valoró el grado de cansancio y cefalea mediante registros clínicos diarios de su evolución antes, durante y después de realizar el tratamiento, en un total de 4 meses. El sujeto registró subjetivamente la intensidad de cansancio y cefalea en una escala de cero (ausencia de cansancio o cefalea) a diez (cansancio o cefalea máximo o insoportable). El tratamiento consistió en realizar la técnica de osteopatía de drenaje de los senos venosos craneales una vez por semana durante dos meses.RESULTADOS Y DISCUSIÓN: En cuanto al cansancio, antes del tratamiento, el valor “4” fue el repetido con mayor frecuencia en un 40%. El mes posterior al tratamiento fue el valor “3” el repetido con más frecuencia en un 93,54%. El valor de cefalea más repetido antes del tratamiento fue el “1” repetido con mayor frecuencia en un 56,66%. El mes posterior al tratamiento el valor “0” fue el repetido con más frecuencia en un 96,77%.CONCLUSIONES: La técnica de osteopatía de drenaje de los senos venosos craneales se ha mostrado eficaz en la disminución del cansancio y cefalea en un sujeto diagnosticado de EM y CCSVI. El estudio tiene sus limitaciones, ya que la cuantificación de los registros ha sido subjetiva y el tratamiento ha sido probado en un único individuo, por lo que debería estudiarse en una población más amplia para poder obtener resultados más fiables.
