- Abstract
- The requirements of research, in order to strengthen the world of osteopathy, demand asearch for ways to objectify and demonstrate its theoretical foundations.Today, mechanical back pain is a major cause of absenteeism, an alarming fact thatseems to be increasing. Different osteopathic techniques and approaches are used to treatit.This project has sought to demonstrate that L3 has an important role in the propermechanics of the lumbar spine and posture of the patient.The following is a pilot study with 20 volunteer subjects suffering from mechanical backpain. The sample was divided randomly into two groups of 10. The treatment groupreceived a high-speed technique or "thrust" in the segment L3. The placebo group weretreated using an ultrasound that was applied offline in the L3.In summary, there have been significant improvements in the support base in thetreatment group, evident in the lessening of the difference between the two feet, balancingthe distribution of weight at each side. However, its effectiveness in decreasing pain hasnot been proven. This is because the results indicate there is a natural decrease andtherefore an improvement in pain in both groups.

- La necessitat de recerca, per donar més força al món de la osteopatia, ha impulsat abuscar la manera de poder objectivar i demostrar les seves bases teòriques.Avui dia, el dolor lumbar mecànic és una de les principals causes d’absentisme laboral,una dada alarmant i que sembla anar en augment. En el camp de la osteopatia, s’utilitzendiferents tècniques i abordatges per tractar-lo.En el present projecte s’ha volgut demostrar que L3 té un paper important en la bonamecànica de la columna vertebral lumbar i en la postura del pacient.A continuació s’exposa un estudi experimental amb 20 subjectes voluntaris que patien dedolor lumbar de tipus mecànic. La mostra va ser repartida aleatòriament en dos grups de10. El grup de tractament va rebre una tècnica d’alta velocitat o “thrust” en el segment L3.El grup placebo se li va aplicar un ultrasó desconnectat en la zona de L3.Finalment, per una banda, s’ha demostrat que existeixen millores significatives de la basede sustentació en el grup de tractament, ja que la diferència existent entre els dos peusdisminueix, equilibrant la repartició de pesos cap a cada extremitat. Però, no s’ha pogutdemostrar la seva efectivitat en el cas del dolor, això és degut a que els resultats indiquenque hi ha un descens del mateix i per tant, una milloria del dolor en tots dos grups.
