Abstract
Introduction: A comparison of quality of life (CV) index between adult people with orthodontics who had received osteopathic treatment (TO) to those who didn’t receive it.Methods: Observational study of the evolution of life quality of 45 participants distributed in three groups and examined through two events. Each event consists on analyzing three answered tests for every group, in order to observe changes in CV, oral health (SB) and cervical pain (DC) for each particular case, within a period of three months. Based on this, we were obtained CV results for every group which were compared it with ANOVA, with the aim to determine whether the differences are statistically significant or not. Results: When comparing the events, the results of the SF-36 (CV) test appear to be favorable for the two groups which attended to the osteopath. Specifically, it was proved that at least one of the resulting means differs from the others.
Conclusions: Osteopathy is a treatment that, according to the study, seems to improve the people’s CV with orthodontics treatment. It also influences the perception of health. It will be necessary to propose a follow up with more reevaluations and a larger sample of subjects is recommended. Hence, the effect of osteopathy in this field of study would be evaluated with better accuracy
