INTRODUCTION: cervicalgia is a common pathology among computer users that generates functional disability and decreases the quality of life. There are osteopathic and anatomical explanations that relate the eye and the vision to the occipital and cervical area. The objective of the study was to evaluate the improvement of cervical pain after applying a functional osteopathic technique in the orbital area described by Viola Frymann.METHODS: experimental study with simple blind with 13 participants randomly divided into control group and experimental group. The participants' evolution was studied by recording cervical pain with the Cervical Disability Index (CID). Four assessments were made: before and after treatment and at 7 and 15 days after treatment.
RESULTS: no statistically significant results were found regarding the improvement of cervical pain in subjects.
CONCLUSIONS: with the sample analyzed and without being able to extrapolate the results to the general population, no statistically significant differences were observed between the study groups according to the IDC measurements. More research is needed to deepen the treatment and relationships between the orbital region and the cervical spine. - Abstract

INTRODUCCIÓN: la cervicalgia es una patología común entre los usuarios de ordenadores que genera incapacidad funcional y disminución en la calidad de vida. Hay explicaciones osteopáticas y anatómicas que relacionan el ojo y la visión con la zona occipital y cervical. El objetivo del estudio fue valorar la mejora del dolor cervical después de aplicar la técnica osteopática funcional de equilibrio del globo ocular descrita por Viola Frymann.
MÉTODOS: estudio experimental con ciego simple con 13 participantes divididos de forma aleatoria en grupo control y grupo experimental. Se estudió la evolución de los participantes mediante el registro del dolor cervical con el Índice de Discapacidad Cervical (IDC). Se hicieron cuatro valoraciones: previamente y posteriormente al tratamiento y a los 7 y 15 días siguientes al tratamiento.
RESULTADOS: con la muestra recogida no se encontraron resultados estadísticamente significativos en relación a la mejora del dolor cervical de los sujetos.
CONCLUSIONES: con la muestra analizada y sin poder extrapolar los resultados a la población general, no se observaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los grupos de estudio según las mediciones del IDC. Se precisan más investigaciones para poder profundizar en el tratamiento y relaciones entre la región orbital y la columna cervical. - presented at
