Abstract
Introduction: low back pain (LBP) has a high prevalence in our society.
Chronic nonspecific low back pain (NLBP) is a kind of LBP. From an
osteopathic view NLBP can be caused by adaptations and compensations.
Therefore, it is treated with a holistic view. We wanted to observe the
relationship between osteopathic manual treatment (OMT) and NLBP.
Purpose: to observe if quality of life related to health (QLRH) in patients with
NLBP was better in the group that received OMT in comparison to the control
group.
Methodology: observational study of cases and controls. Data was collected
on QLRH patients who consulted for NLBP using the SF36 Test. The sample
was 38 individuals (cases n=19, controls n=19).
Results: QLRH was observed higher in the group of patients who received
OMT than those who do not. The statistical analysis was done through TTest
with a significance level of p<0,05.
Conclusions: exposure to OMT in patients with NLBP has a positive
influence on their QLRH having a better score than patients with medical
treatment. All dimensions of health in SF36 Test have better results in both
sexes and all age groups.
Abstract
osteopàtic (OMT) i LCI.
d’edat.
