Zweck der Studie: Ziel
der Studie war herauszufinden, welche Erwartungshaltung PatientInnen, in Bezug
auf die Wissenschaftlichkeit in der osteopathischen Behandlung einnehmen. Speziell sollte darauf
eingegangen werden, ob PatientInnen Zugang zu medizinischen Informationen haben
und ob die individuellen Vorstellungen der PatientInnen in Bezug auf die
Wissenschaftlichkeit der Osteopathie, in die Therapie einfließen können.

Studiendesign: Leitfadengestützte, standardisierte
Interviews mit halb-strukturierten und offenen Fragen.

Methodik: Befragung von 12 osteopathischen
PatientInnen im Alter zwischen 20 und 80 Jahren. Die geführten Interviews
wurden qualitativ nach Mayring (2003) unter Verwendung des
Datenverarbeitungsprogrammes MAXQDA 2022 analysiert.

Ergebnisse: Es konnte
keine konkrete Aussage darüber gemacht werden, ob Erwartungen im Zusammenhang
mit der Anwendung wissenschaftlich basierter Techniken in der Osteopathie
erfüllt wurden oder nicht, da den meisten Befragten nicht bewusst war, dass die
Osteopathie überhaupt einen Schwerpunkt auf wissenschaftliche Forschung legt. Die
Mehrheit der PatientInnen fühlt sich schlecht informiert und äußerte den Wunsch
nach umfassender Aufklärung. Das soziale Umfeld der TeilnehmerInnen stellt die
bevorzugte Informationsquelle der Befragten dar.

Diskussion: Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit machen deutlich, dass ein umfassender
Ansatz zur Verbesserung qualitativer Informationsquellen und Aufklärung über
die Wissenschaftlichkeit der Osteopathie und angewandter Techniken nötig ist,
um die Gesundheitskompetenz der PatientInnen zu fördern. Somit könnte eine
aktivere Teilnahme am Therapieprozess ermöglicht und Behandlungsergebnisse
verbessert werden.

Title: The quiet voice of the patients - interviews with
patients on the topic "The third pillar of evidence-based medicine in
osteopathic treatment"

Objective: The aim of the study was to find out what expectations
patients have with regard to the scientific nature of osteopathic treatment. In
particular, the aim was to find out whether patients have access to medical
information and whether patients' individual ideas about the scientific nature
of osteopathy can be incorporated into the treatment.

Study design: Guideline-based, standardized interviews with
semi-structured and open questions.

Method: Interviews
with 12 osteopathic patients aged between 20 and 80 years. The interviews were
analyzed qualitatively according to Mayring (2003) using the data processing
program MAXQDA 2022.

Results: No
specific statement could be made as to whether or not expectations related to
the use of science-based techniques in osteopathy were met, as most respondents
were not aware that osteopathy had any emphasis on scientific research at all.
The majority of patients felt poorly informed and expressed a desire for
comprehensive information. The social environment of the participants is the
preferred source of information.

Discussion: The
results of this study make it clear that a comprehensive approach to improving
qualitative sources of information and education about the scientific nature of
osteopathy and the techniques used is necessary in order to promote patients'
health literacy. This could enable more active participation in the treatment
process and improve treatment outcomes.
