Abstract
Objective: General objective is to justify the osteopathic treatment for cases ofChondromalacia Patellae (CMFR). Also propose to compare the effectiveness of
structural approach (TBA) to the Craniosacral approach.
Material y Methods: population comprised 15 patients, both sexes, aged 18-45
years (mean 33.2 ± 6.5). All of them sportsmen, presenting a Chondromalacia
Patellae (CMFR) diagnosed medically. Patients were randomly divided into 3 groups
of 5 patients (TBA, Craniosacral, and Control). It was made an initial assessment:
Moment 1 (EST: pain, EFMI: functional limitation), then were performed 2 sessions
of osteopathic treatment for TBA Group and Craniosacral, no treatment was
performed in the Control Group. At the end of period of treatment, a final assessment
was made: Moment, 2 using the same tests (EST, EFMI).
Results: in the Functional Limitation Test (EFMI) were observed Intra-Subject
Changes between Time 1 (M1) and Time 2 (M2) for TBA and Craniosacral,
Continuous Control Panel unchanged groups. In the Inter-Group comparison (TBA,
Craniosacral, Control) of Changes between M1-M2, were significant differences
between Group TBA - Control Groups, and Craniosacral Group - Control Group.
There are not significant changes between the Craniosacral group and the TBA
group. In the pain Test (EST) no changes were observed Intra-Subject or Inter-
Group.
Conclusion: Based on those results, we can reject the null hypothesis, concluding
that the osteopathic approach would be indicated as part of treatment for cases of
CMFR. It can also be concluded that the EST is not relevant to reflect changes in
cases of CMFR with small samples.
