Background: Chapman's neurolymphatic reflexes are an osteopathic tool that can be used as an aid in diagnosis and treatment of visceral dysfunction. Its application has created controversy between osteopaths due to the no existence of scientific basis that explain its physiologic mechanism.Objective: To examine the effect of the Chapman's NL reflexes, corresponding to the endocrine group, on the symptomatology of the premenstrual syndrome (PMS). And to analyze the effectiveness of the Chapman reflex points as a diagnostic tool for PMS.
Methods: A total of 22 women having been diagnosed with PMS were recruited in this study. The experimental group received Chapman's reflex treatment, whereas the control group was only examined to determine the positive presence of these reflex points. All subjects were evaluated with a menstrual pain questionnaire.
Results: The experimental group had a significant reduction in pain and number of positive Chapman reflexes. In comparison with a non-significant variation of none of these two variables in the control group. No significant differences in the rest of PMS symptoms were observed in none of the two groups of study.
Conclusion: Chapman reflex technique to the endocrine group decreases the pain present in the PMS, but not the other symptoms - Abstract

Introducció: Els punts neurolimfàtics (NL) de Chapman són una eina osteopàtica que es pot utilitzar per al diagnòstic i tractament de disfuncions viscerals. La seva aplicació ha creat controvèrsia entre els osteòpates donat que no existeixen moltes bases científiques que expliquin el seu mecanisme fisiològic.
Objectius: Examinar l'efecte de la tècnica dels punts NL de Chapman corresponents al grup endocrí sobre la simptomatologia del síndrome premenstrual (SPM). I analitzar l'efectivitat dels punts de Chapman com a eina de diagnòstic del SPM.
Material i mètode: L'estudi compta amb una mostra de 22 dones diagnosticades de SPM. Al grup experimental se li va aplicar la tècnica de Chapman i al grup control únicament se'ls hi van valorar la presencia positiva d'aquests punts. Els subjectes van ser avaluats mitjançant un qüestionari de dolor menstrual.
Resultats: El grup experimental mostra una reducció significativa del dolor i del número de punts de Chapman positius. En comparació amb una no variació significativa de cap d'aquestes dues variables en el grup control. Pel que fa a la resta de simptomatologia del SPM; en cap dels dos grups d'estudi es troben diferències significatives.
