- What do osteopaths believe to be viable processes for engagement in the NHS? A qualitative study There is little in the way of research of the experiences of osteopaths’ progression through to engagement with the NHS. CAM and osteopaths perceived attitudes towards potential engagement differs from those who have experienced engagement first hand. This qualitative study used interviews (7 participants) to explore osteopaths experiences throughout their journey towards engagement, using thematic analysis and elements of grounded theory to analyse data in which four emergent key themes (and ? sub themes) led to two conceptual models of meaning, the first highlighting a viable process for engagement and the second a guidance model for those interested or wishing to engage. This study suggests there is disparity between perceived attitudes towards engagement and those perceived from experience and that a viable processes for NHS engagement are multifactorial and complex
