- Introduction: The aim of the dissertation is to investigate the effect of injuries sustained over a rugby season of an entire rugby team. Briefly mentioning comparisons and differences between Rugby Union, Rugby League and American football. Method: Questionnaire study I) a team of 30 rugby players from a local team. Forming a comparison between two population groups- forwards and backs injuries. 2) 150 questionnaires sent to Osteopaths over England regarding treatment of sports injury. Results: With regards to the rugby players there was no significant difference between forwards and backs and the injuries they sustained that were tested. Secondly, with regards to the osteopathic questionnaire it was found that there was a relationship between injury and advice given and injury and requiring imaging. With regards to treatment techniques and rehabilitation hypotheses were found to be not significant. Discussion: The results from this study do correlate with other studies though the main hypotheses were found to be not significant. It was found that the studies from the literature had gone into more depth with regards to obtaining more information about player history of the injury such as video analysis and risk factors associated with 'rnjury. Conclusion: More research needs to be conducted in order to get a more significant outcome from the data. The main criticism of the study would be to increase sample size and more information to be gathered from players regarding their injuries
