Objectives:
Evaluate the efficacy of Lacrimalis bones release osteopathic technique in
children with congenital nasolagrimal duct obstruction (CNLDO).
Hypothesis:
Lacrimalis bones release osteopathic technique by C. Rod de Vercher D.O. is
effective for the congenital nasolagrimal duct obstruction.
Material and method:
Randomized, simple-blinded, controlled experimental trial. Both sexes 2 weeks to 9 months age thirty children (30) with CNLDO were randomly distributed in two groups. Totally we studied 36 eyes. Intervention group received only one treatment and control group received a placebo treatment. We accept as indicators to value our efficacy the fluorescein disappearance test (FDT) and the modified Jones test (Jones). In both groups we have realized the FDT and the Jones before treatment (FDT1/Jones1), immediately after treatment (FDT2/Jones2) and 14 days before the treatment.
Results:
In the intervention group we obtained some values of FDT2 (1´68±0´58) and FDT3
(1,474 ± 0,513) significantly smaller than placebo group (p<0´05). We obtained statistical association (p<0´005) between Jones2/positive and osteopathic treatment but no association between Jones3/positive and osteopathic treatment.
Conclusions:
Lacrimalis bones release osteopathic technique produce smaller values in group intervention FDT and more Jones positives just finished the treatment. Perhaps this
efficacy increase with more than one treatment. - Abstract

Objetivos:
Estudiar la eficacia de la técnica osteopática de liberación de los huesos lagrimales según C. Rod de Vercher D. O. en niños con obstrucción congénita del conducto nasolagrimal (OCCNL).
Hipótesis:
La técnica osteopática de liberación de los lagrimales según C. Rod de Vercher es eficaz en el tratamiento de la OCCNL.
Material y método:
Estudio experimental aleatorizado ciego simple con grupo placebo.
Para la realización de este estudio hemos tomado una muestra de 30 individuos, de ambos sexos, con edades corregidas comprendidas entre las 2 semanas y los 9 meses con diagnóstico de ÓCCNL. En total fueron 36 ojos estudiados. Los sujetos se dividieron de forma aleatoria en dos grupos: un grupo intervención que recibió el tratamiento una sola vez y un grupo placebo que recibió una técnica placebo. Hemos tomado como indicadores para valorar la eficacia de nuestra actuación el test de aclaramiento de fluoresceína (TAF) y el test de Jones modificado (Jones). En ambos grupos se ha realizado el TAF y el Jones antes del tratamiento (TAF1/Jones1), inmediatamente después del tratamiento (TAF2/Jones2) y 14 días después del tratamiento (TAF3/Jones3).
Resultados:
En el grupo intervención encontramos unos valores de TAF2 (1´68±0´58) y de TAF3 (1,474 ± 0,513) significativamente menores que en el grupo placebo (p<0´05). En el test de Jones se encuentra asociación estadística (p<0´005) entre Jones2/positivo y el tratamiento osteopático pero no entre Jones3/positivo y el tratamiento osteopático.
Conclusiones:
La técnica osteopática de liberación de los huesos lagrimales produce unos valores menores en el TAF del grupo intervenido y más positivos en el test de Jones justo después del tratamiento. Por lo tanto podemos decir que es eficaz para el tratamiento de la OCCNL. Es posible que esta eficacia aumentara al realizar la técnica más de una vez. - presented at
