Abstract
Introduction:
The objective of our pilot study is to propose a new and simple X-ray technique as a complementary test to diagnose the anterior talus disfunction.

Objetive:

Our objective is to evaluate the possible enlargement of the talocalcaneal angle in a dysfunctional foot in relation to a healthy foot by using Pisani and Garnieri´s technique. This technique is applied in patients suffering of anterior talus dysfunction and who have been diagnosed according to the osteopathic diagnostic protocol followed by the Madrid School of Osteopathy (EOM).

Pacients, material and methods:

In order to do this, we take a sample of twenty people, male and female, between twenty and forty two years old and who have suffered either an acute or a chronic external sprain in the heel. We select those people that are within the criteria and that have been positively diagnosed with anterior talus dysfunction.
After applying the diagnostic protocol for the anterior talus dysfunction and register the results, we take the X-ray.
Results:
Both the results obtained by using the osteopathic diagnostic protocol and the X-ray are statistically analyzed, using de T de Student test.
After this statistical analysis, we appreciate that the talus angle is larger in the dysfunctional side (average: 18,9º standard deviation: 5,1º) than in the health one (average: 16,5º; standard deviation: 5,1º). However, this difference is not statistically significant (p=0,1).
Conclusions:

Acknowledging the limitations of this study, the conclusion is that all the results obtained from this study show an obvious enlargement in the Talocalcaneal angle in the dysfunctional foot and that, having had a bigger sample of patients, the results would have been statistically significant.
Abstract
Nuestro estudio piloto tiene como objetivo plantear una nueva y sencilla técnica radiográfica como prueba diagnóstica complementaria en la disfunción anteriro del astrágalo. Nos proponemos valorar el posible incremento del ángulo astrágalo-calcáneo de pie en disfunción con respecto al pie sano, utlizando la Técnica descrita por Pisani y Garnieri en pacientes con Disfunción Anterior del Astrágalo, diagnosticada siguiendo el protocolo diagnóstico osteopático aceptado por la Escuela de Osteopatía de Madrid (EOM). Para su realización, tomamos una muestra de 20 individuos, de ambos sexos, con edades comprendidas entre los 20 y los 42 años que hayan sufrido un Esguince externo de Tobillo agudo o crónico, que cumpla los criterios de inclusión y que den positivo al diagnóstico de la disfunción anterior del astrágalo. Tras practicar el protocolo diagnóstico para la disfunción Anterior del Astrágalo y registrar los datos y se realiza la prueba radiográfica. Los datos obtenidos con las mediciones tanto en el protocolo diagnóstico osteopático como en la prueba radiológica, fueron sometidos a análisis estadístico mediante la prueba de T de Student. Tras el análisis estadístico evindeciamos que el ángulo astrágalocalcáneo fue mayor en el lado de la disfunción (media: 18,9º; desviación estándar: 5,1º) que en lado sano (media: 16,5º; desviación estándar: 5,1º), aunque esta diferencia no alcanzó la significación estadística (p=0,1). Por todo ello y entendiendo las limitaciones de dicho estudio podemos concluir que los datos obtenidos en el estudio muestran un incremento claro del ángulo astrágalocalcáneo en el pie en disfunción y que, probablemente, con un tamaño muestral mayor hubiéramos alcanzado significación estadística.
