Allergic sinusitis and rhinitis are two functional pathologies that are suffering an increasement in our society.
Nowadays we have observed how the number of cases has risen due to either factors inherent to the individual or extrinsic reasons, playing a decisive role in the environmental factors.
Because of the significant repercussion of this kind of affectation, I have decided to study in depth the nasal fossas, but certainly with reference to the osteopathy.
In the next three chapters I have tried to detach anatomy, physiology and osteopathy pathology of the nasal fossas in order to understand the kind of applied treatment tackled in chapter 4, and mainly to appreciate the importance of the sphenopalatin ganglion in the pathology of the ORL sphere contemplated in this survey.
Its important role is due not only to the vegetative innervation related to the trigeminal nerve, but also to its anatomical location in the pterigo-maxillary fossa. Therefore, one of the keys for the treatment of allergic sinusitis and rhinitis will be the stimulation of that ganglion, as it is the pre-visceral functional centre of the lachrymal apparatus and the mucus of the buccal, nasal and upper pharyngeal cavities.
In order to follow a compact study, the analysis of the nasal fossas will be divided according to the naso-sinusian structure, where the cervical spine and the first rib play a significant role, and the local treatment of the naso-sinusian structure where, as we have already mentioned, the treatment of the sphenopalatinum ganglion will be fundamental, because the couple formed by the sphenopalatinum ganglion and trigeminal nerve is one of the main crossroads in neurovegetative reflexotherapy. - Abstract

La rinitis y la sinusitis alérgica son dos patologías funcionales que van en aumento en nuestra sociedad.
Actualmente hemos podido observar cómo el número de casos se ha incrementado, ya sea por factores intrínsecos del propio individuo, ya sea por factores extrínsecos, jugando un papel muy importante los factores medioambientales.
Debido a la importante repercusión de este tipo de afectación, he decidido realizar un profundo estudio de las fosas nasales, eso sí, aplicado a la Osteopatía.
En los próximos tres capítulos se ha intentado desglosar la Anatomía, la Fisiología y la Patología Osteopática de las fosas nasales para poder entender el tipo de tratamiento aplicado que se aborda en el capítulo 4, y, sobretodo, para entender la importancia que tiene el ganglio esfeno-palatino en la patología de la esfera ORL que tratamos en este estudio.
Su papel importante se debe tanto a la inervación vegetativa por su relación con el nervio trigémino, como por su ubicación anatómica en la fosa pterigo-maxilar. Por tanto, una de las claves del tratamiento de la rinitis y sinusitis alérgica será la estimulación de este ganglio, ya que éste representa el centro funcional pre-visceral del aparato lacrimal y de las mucosas de las cavidades bucal, nasal y faríngea superior.
Para poder seguir un protocolo de estudio, el abordaje de las fosas nasales lo dividiremos en tratamiento a distancia de la estructura naso-sinusiana, donde tiene un papel muy importante el raquis cervical y la primera costilla; y el tratamiento local de la estructura naso-sinusiana, donde, como ya hemos dicho, será primordial el tratamiento del ganglio esfeno-palatino, ya que la pareja ganglio esfenopalatino-trigémino es una de las encrucijadas fundamentales de la reflexoterapia neurovegetativa. - presented at
